Anything you feel would help describe your persona better: I'lan is darkly handsome with rich brown, wavy hair and deep brown eyes. His skin is tanned and unblemished. He has a dimple in his chin and even white teeth. His nose is a bit small for his face, as are his ears. He keeps his dark hair medium length and pulls it into a leather thong most of the time. He is tall, standing at 6'3" and well toned, but not bulky. He is all legs, as his mother says. Once he became a dragonrider, he has become even more toned and muscular. He has calloused fingertips from playing guitar. He has a bad scar across his left shoulder where it meets his neck from thread.

Personality: I'lan is a bubbly and gregarious personality, finding the lighter side of every situation. It is very difficult to get him down. As any person, he has his dark side, but never lets it show. He is a very compassionate and generous person, with little to no regard for his own comforts or needs. He is self confident without being cocky and isn't really aware that he comes off as being perfect. He doesn't believe anyone is perfect, especially himself. He is just comfortable in who he is and values other's and their feelings more. If ever angry, I'lan keeps it to himself and cools off before confronting anyone. And when he does confront someone, he does it calmly and in a reasonable manner. I'lan is a very mature and responsible person. His father always said I'lan was 4 going on 40 turns. I'lan has an excellent sense of humor and can get just about anyone to laugh. And laughter is one of I'lan's favorite things. In that regard, I'lan can dress a bit outrageously. He likes bright shocking colors, but always makes sure he doesn't clash and his clothes are tailored to fit his tall frame. The general effect is that I'lan is the center of attention in most rooms, but looks good while there. He is not a lonely man, but would be even happier if he could find a mate that suits him.

Background: Irilian was born to a journeyman harper and his spouse, also a harper. Both Arinal and his spouse, Lillinea were stationed at Tillek Hold. They fell in love and about a turn later, their son was born. He was soon followed by six more siblings. Irilian adored his younger brothers and sisters. It was noticed early in his life that he was patient and generous. He picked up quickly his parent's love of music and after apprenticing with his father until he was 13, he went to the Harper Hall with his mother and father's full support and pride to become a journeyman.

 

After walking the tables at 16 turns, he returned to his home. The masters at the Hall wished for him to spend the next turn with his family before he began his journeyings. However, shortly after getting back, a blue dragon on search came to the Hold. Irilian was picked, along with several other hopefuls to stand for the clutch hardening on Fort Weyr's sands. Irilian didn't impress that clutch, nor the three after that. But he stayed on at the Weyr, learning under the Weyrsinger, T'ors.

 

Finally, just after his 18th turn, Irilian, now I'lan, impressed blue Tarlith. He considered himself lucky, for instead of the usual chores as a weyrling, I'lan continued his harper studies in hopes of becoming a Weyrsinger as well. But, Fort Weyr already had two Weyrharpers and several searchriders, since Tarlith was showing sings of being sensitive to promising young potentials. So, after graduation, his studies completed, his dragon grown, I'lan asked for a transfer. But before he was given an answer, he was injured in threadfall. A nasty ball of thread burrowed into the curve of I'lan's neck just over his left shoulder. It was deep and nearly cost him the use of his arm. Had it not been for Tarlith's quick transfer /between/, it was rumored that I'lan wouldn't have lost the use of his arm, he would have lost his life.

 

But, despite his injury, I'lan was not to be deterred. Once healed, he again asked for a transfer and it was granted. So, I'lan, with Tarlith and little Thistle, his newly acquired green firelizard, in tow, I'lan made the move to Free Falling Weyr. He settled in quickly and found his new Weyr to be refreshing and his harper skills in much demand. Of course, as unselfish as I'lan is, he doesn't interfere with the actual harpers assigned to the Weyr. He much prefers to play 'with' them, enjoying the camaraderie and the music.

Name: Tarlith

Age: 7 turns

Color: Tarlith is one of those rare dragons with absolutely no markings on him. He is a medium jade blue from nose to tail tip. He is of average size and length with nothing remarkable about his looks.

Sire/Dame: bronze Tunoth, gold Atyth

Personality: What makes Tarlith remarkable is his sensitivity and huge heart. At seven turns, he has the ability to search, but has never done so officially. He limits his comments and choices to his lifemate. He is as confident in his skills as his rider, but chooses not to display them. Tarlith's only displays are for green dragons. He is an outrageous flirt and will chase any green that rises. I'lan's natural upbeat personality makes for Tarlith to be as coy as some green dragons can be.
