He will say what anyone wants to hear, whether he agrees or not. He is also a follower. He general follows whomever is the stronger personality. As Allash's father was a demanding man, Allash followed his father's footsteps and became a beastcrafter as well. He actually liked the work, but would have prefered it to be somewhere other than at Keroon. He has an impotent temper, never having the courage to confront anyone. He can be sneaky and would be considered a weak man. Background: Allash, like his younger brother, fell under the shadow of their father. Both became beastcrafters, but while Alehgar rebelled, Allash found he enjoyed what he was doing. Allash, in a flash of jealousy, began to nurse a resentment towards Alehgar when his little brother escaped to the Harper Hall. Allash had no talent for harpering. And, even though he enjoyed being a beastcrafter, he still wished he could get away from his father's tyranny. He soon got his wish, when a visiting blue dragon from Telgar searched him. He was ecstatic that Janery was searched as well, and they traveled to the Weyr together. A'lsh impressed during the same hatching as Janery, finding his lifemate, brown Korendath. What A'lsh wasn't prepared for was Janery's total control over him. He got in more trouble with her than he did his whole life back at Keroon Hold. When they made the Junior Weyrwoman mad by playing a prank on her and ended up with midden duty, A'lsh seriously considered distancing himself from the greenrider. Myrin intimidated and terrified A'lsh, but Janery would not be dissuaded from her obsession, so A'lsh was dragged into many plots against his better judgment.
A'lsh was heartily looking
forward to their graduation, because he'd been unable to sleep with Janery
since they impressed. His attachment to the greenrider ran deep and A'lsh's
only thought was what they would be able to do once they became full riders.
And, of course, the first time Canleth rose, A'lsh, along with Korendath,
would be there to catch them both! But, as A'lsh mused over these delightful
images, his feet were knocked out from under him. The earth began to shake
and suddenly everyone was screaming and running. Janery had grabbed him by
the tunic and dragged him out to the bowl, her bright green eyes darting
everywhere. A'lsh was confused and really didn't know what to do, so he
followed her blindly. Following Janery's orders without thinking, A'lsh
found himself on Korendath's back and in the air. Soon they were far away,
and A'lsh kept looking back at the huge cloud of dust that was once Telgar
Weyr. Once they reached High Reaches Weyr, Janery broke down and A'lsh was a
loss on how to comfort her. It's not that the deaths of so many didn't
effect him, but strong emotions were foreign to him. His adoration of Janery
and hate for Alehgar were the strongest emotions he had. But when Janery
came back from Fort Weyr and told him there was nothing left, his hate for
his little brother disappeared. Since Alehgar was at the Harper Hall when
the shakes happened, A'lsh knew his brother was dead. She did, once, tell
him that Keroon Hold had survived the shakes, but A'lsh didn't care. There
was nothing there that he cared about anymore.
He learned quickly, that his
beloved Janery was willing to do just about anything for survival. Something
he wouldn't have done himself. Had he been alone, he and Korandeth would
most likely have died of starvation. So his admiration grew for the
greenrider. He followed her into every raid they did, finding he had a
certain talent in being sneaky and Janery's pleasure at him when he didn't
mess up. If Janery was pleased with him, A'lsh was happy. When she was
angry, A'lsh did everything in his power to please her again.
Lately, however, A'lsh had
been concerned over Janery. They had been finding it harder and harder to
find food, and Janery had been getting testier and testier. She got angry
for no reason and was even more withdrawn. A'lsh only hoped something good
would happen so Janery would be happy again.
