Habits: Fidgeting with her hands whenever she’s not doing anything with them.

 

Hobbies: Anaiya knows how to play several instruments and spends her free time practicing with the few she brought with her when she moved to the weyr.  Her favorite is the flute and is the one she’s best with.

 

Personality: Cheerful, with a can-do attitude, Anaiya is the kind of person people just seem to get along with.  She believes strongly that a person can do anything they want if only they put their minds to it.  It is for this reason that she dislikes people who give up or anyone who says that others should.  Because of this she tends to have a hard time understanding when a person struggles, to her it’s simply because they aren’t doing their best and she has to constantly remind herself that there could be more to the situation.  Rarely does she feel actual animosity towards anyone, but when she does, she has not problem letting it be known.  Anaiya shares her brother’s playful nature and doesn’t mind teasing people, especially to get them to try harder or to prove her wrong.

 

Background: Growing up in the Harper Hall, Anaiya learned to play most instruments at an early age.  While she did not share her brother’s talent with words and songs, she far surpassed him with most other musical talents.  It was there, inspired by the songs and teachings of the harpers that she got her belief that anyone can accomplish whatever they put their mind to.  Anaiya was still young when N’von was searched and went to Free Falling Weyr.  In the time after that she grew up almost as an only child, but she was far from lacking companions.  She came to know almost everyone in the Hall and had become friends with most of those around her age group.  When she turned thirteen, she officially became an apprentice at the Harper Hall, although she'd been studying with her parents and other harpers for some time before that.  With music as her passion, Anaiya was quite a bit ahead of the other apprentices by the time she was searched.  Eager at the chance to impress a dragon and to see her brother again, she left for the weyr.

            Anaiya had been at Free Falling Weyr for less than half a year, when the quakes destroyed more than half the Northern Continent.  With the Harper Hall went everyone she had ever known, leaving herself and her brother.  Like many who had lost loved ones in the tragedy, Anaiya sunk into depression, comforted only by her older brother.  Their relationship increased exponentially from the tragedy and she felt as if he were the only one she could still talk to.  Between candidate classes she took to doing nothing but playing her instruments and talking to N’von.  She spent a large portion of time writing down everything she had learned while at the Harper Hall, keeping it all at the bottom of a small chest in her room, to remind her of what had been lost.
