When her older brother returned to the weyr, and too impressed, Aysha had made up her mind then and there. She was to become a dragonrider no matter what it took. At the age of 12, Aysha was finally deemed old enough to stand for impression, after many years of longing and waiting, she got her chance to impress. However after 8 unsuccessful hatchings, Aysha's heart fell, and she realized her dream of becoming a dragon rider like her parents and brother was unlikely. She would have to find some other career, and though she admired her older sister Tolarey, she refused to be confined to the very kitchens of the place she could not impress from. It was these facts that pushed Aysha to pursue a career as a beast-crafter, and at the age of 14 Aysha became an apprentice to the master beast-crafters at Keroon Hold, where she could take her love for animals and turn it into a lively hood she could live with. Upon reaching her journeywoman mark, Aysha was put in charge of her own herd at Keroon's hold, and she experimented with breed a new line of runner, taking the traits of each beast, and slowly making the beginnings of a new breed. This project, would her advancement toward her status of Master, however, one night a wild Wher found his way into the pen of her animals, and killed several of her best beasts, leaving Aysha torn, and unable to decide what to do next. Would she pick up the pieces of her broken project, or completely give up. Much to her surprise, her masters encouraged Aysha to take the remaining beasts that had survived the attack, and to head for Telgar Weyr, where several runners had been found bearing the resemblance of those that had been slaughtered. With slight dismay, Aysha returned home once again, and found her in the midst of the battle her brother had been stirring up in the weyr.
