Habits: None Hobbies: None Personality: C'lon was a precocious and very adventurous child. He was born to a greenrider that had very little time for him. He was a forceful enough personality to run the crèche. His foster mother encouraged the leadership, even as she discouraged the pranks. Collen never got into any real trouble, always knowing when to draw the line. As he grew, he became fascinated with his parent's dragons, many times being found sleeping within their great front legs.
C'lon grew to respect
dragonriders and have a deep understanding of them. He's very steady
personality. He doesn't get angry often and if he does, never stays that
way. His mother used to call him 'brownie' because she said his personality
mirrored a brown dragon's personality. He has a tender sense of humor, never
hurting anyone's feelings. His laugh is infectious and he has gotten whole
rooms giggling hysterically.
Background: Collen was born to Collira, a greenrider committed to her duty. She had no time for him and he was fostered to the Headwoman of Igen Weyr. His father, L'nar took only mild interest in him since he was a Wingsecond and very busy. Collen didn't mind. He knew his parents but, in effect, it was the whole Weyr that raised him. One dragonrider, or all dragonriders, it didn't matter to Collen who were his parents. He quickly learned how to read people, and ran the crèche with considerable tact and precision. He is a natural born leader, or so his foster mother says. He has done the typical pranks of a weyrbred child, but kept them to a minimum, and mostly for fun, not malicious intent.
When Collen reached his 12th
turn, he stood on the stands and impressed a medium sized brown dragonet.
They were inseparable and their bond is deep. Collen, now C'lon couldn't
wait to finish his weyrling training and graduate to a full rider. It was
the only time he ever showed any impatience. It was also the only time his
father showed any interest in him. L'nar was proud that his only son had
impressed on his first try to a brown dragon, much like his own. L'nar began
to spend some time with C'lon, instructing him on what it took for a
brownrider to rise to Wingsecond, such as himself. C'lon listened and
gleaned what he needed from his father's lengthy, and sometimes pompous
lectures. C'lon spent more time memorizing what the Weyrlingmaster said.
He graduated at the top of
his class, though his personality was somewhat dampened due to the deaths of
several classmates. He moved up the ranks, though never really striving to
make wingsecond, like his father. Disgusted, his father ignored him again.
C'lon didn't care. He knew what he was, his limitations, and knew his duty.
He was an excellent wingrider, even though his "natural born leader"
propensity was a thing of his childhood. He was still able to influence
others just with his calm, reasonable attitude.
At 22 turns was when C'lon's
life changed forever. Now assigned to the highest wing, C'lon and his brown
were trying to save a young, newly graduated green from a very nasty and
possibly life threatening Thread score, and C'lon caught the dust from the
tangle of thread directly in his face. His brown transferred to /between/ in
an instant, but it was too late. The healers did everything they could, but
C'lon did not regain his sight.
When the shakes happened,
C'lon was out of the Weyr, hunting his brown. He felt the ground shake,
heard the tumorous sound of stone breaking, and the screams of both dragon
and human alike. It was his brown that informed him of what was happening,
even as he began to keen the bone jarring sorrow of many dragon deaths.
C'lon directed his brown back to Igen Weyr. They helped with any survivors
as best they could, but it was very obvious C'lon wasn't much help. That was
when he directed his brown to Free Falling Weyr.
Now, almost three turns
later, C'lon is settled even though he doesn't fly fall. He does have the
amazing ability to see "through" his brown. He busies himself as best he
can, but wishes there was more he could do. His dragon has accepted the fact
that he will not fight thread, but every fall is a torment to them both.
C'lon has grown quiet since his injury, but does not have any self-pity. He
is a dragonrider! Even if he is one that cannot see. Because of his rider's
handicap, C'lon's brown has not chased in a mating flight either. Something
C'lon wishes would change as well. He didn't injure that part of himself,
after all.
Dragon Information Name: Mishath Age: 23 Color: Mishath is a medium brown, somewhat mottled, like freshly turned earth. Sire/Dame: Bronze Hisrath, Gold Santh Personality: Mishath is a quiet brown. He is intelligent, but reserved. He will speak with any other dragons, but doesn't generally speak to other humans. He is overly protective of his lifemate, especially after he was blinded.
