and strong, he's very shy around those he doesn't know and even around
those he does, the only people that have really seen him laugh, and joke
around are his siblings and his Uncle. He's almost always quiet as
though he's thinking or concentrating on something. People may get the
impression he's not smart, but he's very intelligent, despite what
people think, he can do complicated calculations in his head in a matter
of moments. Since his graduation, he's gotten bolder, more daring, but
still he doesn't usually talk unless he needs to. And since coming under
R'tor's mentorship, as the man's second he's gotten even bolder, he's
very observant, and he's a lot smarter then he lets on, he knows people
talk because he's only a brownrider, but he's a wingsecond, but he
doesn't let it get to him, and he tries hard not to let his Wingleader
down.
Background: Born with three other sibling, and early, he was a healthy baby. He was born to the now former Weyrleader, and a greenrider. His father soon after lost his dragon in a double queen rising, and left the weyr, then returned for a while then left again. When his father left the second time he's been told that his mother suicided out of grief and sadness her green and her followed Sulleth /between/. There was a scuffle over who would take him and his sibling in after his mother died, and they were finally fostered, and allowed to spend allot of their time with their uncle R'andy. R'andy asked to take them to some of his family, who could raise them with out any other responsibilities. R'andy took them back in time for a full sixteen turns while only a few days passed in present time. They grew up under R'andy's care, and one of Ryan's uncle and aunts, that live in a remote hold. He knows a lot about his father, and Sulleth and Grally, and all of his father's accomplishments, but only a few times has he ever gotten R'andy to tell him about his mother, and even then R'andy would break down into tears, even though for him she's been dead for sixteen turns. He doesn't know much about his mother, but he knows alot about his aunts and uncles. R'andy brought them back to the weyr a few days after they'd left in the present time, and he was really excited to meet his father, and his aunts and uncles, though he was a little reluctant to leave the Hold. He knew not to say anything about the timing, but he also knew his uncle R'andy was going to get in big trouble. He was surprised when Ranth spoke to him and told him he was a likely candidate.
Since returning he
impressed the young Brown Robrenth, the pair did well in Weyrling
training, despite his brothers' trying to get him in trouble. He studied
with his Uncle Tukker, the Journeyman healer for nearly two turns, and
learned quickly and easily how to take care of minor injuries, he went
as far with his training as he could, and his uncle believed he would be
equal with a senior apprentice, if he had been able to train as a proper
healer, but he trained as much as he could...
After a hunting trip,
his Wingleader offered him the position as Second, and Jal'yn agreed,
but only if his Wingleader would teach him what he needed to know, and
what he wanted and expected from a second. He has trained hard, and does
his best, as he doesn't want to disappoint his Wingleader, he just hopes
he does his parents proud...
