It’s constant source of annoyance to him and amusement to his dragon that he mentally points out every rhyme he hears, says, or thinks. Hobbies: Coming up with random poems and songs. Often he’ll jokingly come up with ones about how great he is or making fun of those who yell at him. Sometimes he’ll write them down, but most he would prefer no one know about but Rutenth. Personality: A true class clown, N’von has the type of personality that one either loves or hates. He can’t help but make fun of anything and everything around him, often in the form of short little poems or rhymes that he comes up with off the top of his head. N’von loves tricking people while talking to them and acting as if doing so was never his intention in the first place. Sometimes he gets annoyed at himself, but generally he maintains a positive attitude about life and those around him. There are few things that can get him serious, one of which is his sister whom he cares for very deeply. Background: Born in the Harper Hall to two parents who loved both each other and him very much, N’von’s early childhood was quite happy. He began studying the harper craft from an early age, but showed little skill in playing any instruments. It wasn’t until his mother taught him some short little rhyming songs that his talent began to show. As he learned more children’s songs he started rhyming as he talked, hardly meaning to and amusing his parents and others in the hold greatly. This habit faded as he grew older and discovered that his constant rhyming annoyed those around him. However, this did nothing to stop the rhymes from popping up in his head and he wrote them down as often as possible. When he was fifteen he was searched and brought to Free Falling Weyr as a candidate. His time as a candidate was not the most enjoyable for him as he found that those at the weyr were far less tolerant of him than those at the hall had been. Few of the other candidates didn’t dislike him and he found himself about ready to ask to go home when he impressed to brown Rutenth almost a year after arriving at the weyr. Rutenth proved to be an inspiration that N’von had never thought possible and he and the brown fit together perfectly. There was a noticeable change in his attitude to those around him as he went back to his ways when he first joined the weyr. Finding that Rutenth enjoyed his playful attitude and his jokes, N’von took to goofing around outside of class again. He no longer cared if the other weyrlings liked him or not and while he annoyed them constantly, there was nothing they could do to dampen him. Some time after N’von graduated, his sister, Anaiya, was searched as a candidate. N’von greatly enjoyed having his little sister around and teased her as much as possible, feeling that he had never gotten a chance to before he’d left. Anaiya, far from getting angry, came back at him with equal force, quite happy to have an older brother, agreeing with him that they’d never gotten a chance before since she’d been 9 when he left. Their fun didn’t last long as not six months after Anaiya was searched, the quakes hit, completely destroying their old home and bringing their parents with it. N’von felt the loss hardly, but not nearly as bad as his little sister did. To cope with his grief, he did everything in his power to help his sister get through and to keep her from falling into depression. This did seem to help and as Anaiya began going back to her usual routine, N’von found himself able to go back to his. He finds his rider’s rhyming amusing along with others’ reactions to it. Though he is not afraid to tell his rider if he is about to go too far, Rutenth often feels people over react to N’von’s joking.
