December 13, 2006 March 27, 2007  August 24, 2007

August 24, 2007  The scarcity of the resources is an obvious fact, but some decide to take actions against it. Junior Weyrwoman Myrin orders A’del to search for them on the Southern Continent. The young bronzerider unexpectedly joins the Southern riders in fighting the Fall which brings him into trouble before R’lyn and his own Weyrleader, who knows noting about the whole mission.

The opinions about A’del will surely be extremely different, from condemning him as another looting rider, his illness being the punishment for his actions, to seeing him as a saviour of the Weyr who even suffered for its well-being...

It is evident that the relationships between the Weyr and the Hold are far from being neutral, not to mention good. But dieing Lord Garell of Mid-Areth wants his successor to be chosen in the elections and asked for the assistance of dragonriders for that unusual event. His subjects have completely different opinion about their presence...

The elections barely begun and Star Minion riders already got into trouble. Maybe the Weyrleader was too optimistic believing they would do more good then harm and especially giving the leadership to a bronzerider of barely twenty Turns.

Family conflicts seem to have lightened a bit, but another started and this one might concern a good deal of Weyr’s population. Star Minion was felf leaderless far too long to not to provoke rumours about its fate.

Bronzerider D’lin, last time acting as the leader along with brownrider K’rrick, feels he has the right for that rank. He might not oppose if a more experienced rider would be promoted, but the most likely candidate is his age and adding to that a son of Weyrleader’s friend...

It seems like a quest for power, and for a woman since Foxith’s last mating flight. But the truth is D’lin cares for leadership, not for greenrider Eros, while F’inis does the opposite. Whatever L’rek decides it will be taken as controversial.

March 27, 2007 A Weyrlings conversation during a bath of their dragons doesn’t seem anything extraordinary. But if you are the ‘Strangest ever Weyrling’ things are much different. Jahlando’s re-Impression to brown Suth was a Weyr- or even Pern-wide surprise. His new position seems confusing to everyone from his teenaged classmates to the WeyrlingsMaster, who by coincidence had been the Weyrleader of Southern in the same time while J’lando had been leading Free Falling.

Do the twins have to be identical?

The separation of D’ven and Darvah after she didn’t find her lifemate even during the second Hatching is a natural consequence of the difference in Weyrlingsʼ and Candidatesʼ activities. But the case of C’lix and C’lef shows that even a double success can lead to conflicts.

During the chores C’lef is discussing his situation with M’rin, who is facing similar problems with both his dragon and his sister. In the same time C’lix is playing chess with C’rik (watch out C’rik! a Bitrans instincts might come out even in a leisure game) and seeking an advice from Jal’yn. Will sharing the problem help the two brothers to get along, or would it rather create coalitions antagonising also people not involved so far?

Weyr Healers, overloaded with work, really need a break. Finally getting some free time, they spend it on... getting drunk. However unhealthy this activity might be, it can let the two Journeymen better understand one another.

December 13, 2006  Kilenanth clutched a good number of 35 eggs, which gather a big group of spectators (and provoked some bets as usual). There is no golden egg this time but another one attracts a lot of attention – almost white with a blue eye-shape pattern. Not only the Candidates but even experienced inhabitants of the Weyr wonder what will hatch out of it...

As the eggs are clutched an inflow of new Candidates begun, making T’ren full of work. After the shakes not only the shape of Pern changed, but also its people. The Searchriders experience the whole range of attitudes: from usual childish excitement and happiness of seeing dragons to the strongest anger and fear provoked by looting riders. The Candidates also have to get used to the new environment, but the chores begin soon.

It is widely known that pregnant Candidates cannot stand for the Hatching so Niory’s birth would be accounted as a very happy event, but it didn’t go well. It is true that the Candidate has a lovely little girl Kamory, but her twin boy didn’t make it... and Kamerion  appears only several days later, having a bad news about his family adding to that hard situation. Can a girl of only 17 turns get through it quickly enough for the nearest clutch? And what will happen to this small family?

After the shocking re-appearance of their father the quadruples spend some more time together discussing the latest (and no so latest) events of their lives... only to find another shocking thing. It appears they all had a relationship with the same woman. Dyan tries to ‘untangle the web’, but it becomes more and more complicated, when Arimil is faced with three men she always considered the same person. Just then her green rose to her mating flight. It seems simple to solve – the one who wins gets her, but it is blue Moranth who catches Jadeleath. So the problem of quadruples stays unsolved, though Arimil is surely not bothering about it right now...

Even after Miseraeth’s terrible crash during her first flight, the Weyrlings must continue their training, the one in the air included. Both dragons and young riders were looking forward to flying together. So Al’gar’s disappointment after not being able to suit the straps on his fast growing brown Dionath is almost unbearable. Those admitted to the participation really enjoy their first experiences in the air, though the smaller dragons are getting tired faster. Wistanth feels it so strong that she can’t return to the Rim, falling into the cold Lake. Odath and M’quel hurry for they rescue, but can the second accident leave the morale of the young riders unshaken?

The last class showed well how much of M’quel's attention is needed for the younger class of Weyrlings, but the seniors still need someone to teach and supervise them. Fortunately C’dhe it transfer to Free Falling to help the WeyrlingsMaster. But... can the preferences of the young bronzerider cause more problems than help? He doesn’t waste his time starting a flirt with Dannika, who barely graduated from her Weyrlinghood.

November 9, 2006L'rek is settling in his Weyrleader's quarters, or at least trying to, but from the first moment the riders start coming to see him. The current situation is really hard to deal with even without the whole Weyr coming for a visit.

As the living quarters of the Weyr are really crowded and sharing the weyrs causes a lot of conflicts, the new Weyrleader established a housing committee to help in solving the problems. Can the selected inhabitants of the Weyr help in this  difficult situation? And won't the reluctance of Junior Weyrwoman towards the two committee members destroy L'rek's plans?

The time passes fast and the dragonets from Julinath's last clutch are growing all the time (brown Dionath even faster than his clutchmates) so the time to go up, up and away finally came for them too. Most of the class is doing well with only minor imperfection during take off or landing, but first flight might be dangerous as Cliserath and Mantioth are experiencing on themselves.

Ry'ndo is wiling to follow his uncle Tukker's path and make his Healer's training official, but it needs Weyrleaders approval first. Even with good results of the tests he is quite nervous waiting in Kiysia's weyr and about to meet the new Weyrleader. Can L'rek afford to dismiss the brownrider from some of his duties? And will the young man find enough time after caring  for his lifemate to walk the tables in a Turn or two?

T'ren's contemplations about the variety of the Candidates awaiting the next Hatching lead finally to him letting Darvah have a ride on his bronze. Taking a girl for a ride on dragon's back might not only be frown upon, but also misunderstood. Can a impulsive brother destroy the fragile relationship between Milanna and T'ren? And is it really a misunderstanding or rather an intrigue from M'rin's part?

The birthing day of Myrin came, but instead of making her celebrating it happily it brings back the worse memories. R'tor seems to be the only one who remembers or maybe the only one who cares for the rather disliked Junior Weyrwoman. As the goldrider is letting her guard down, we can see that she in fact has a human part hidden deeply inside her...

The old Weyrleader, and now dragonless man, Jahlando, returns to Free Falling after several Turns causing a big shock to everyone that knew him. Having recovered a bit after his Sulleth's death and worried by the shakes he returns to re-unite with his family. But not only his re-apparition will amaze his children... The ex-bronzerider will surely be shocked himself when he finds out how much his ʽlittleʼ four have changed in this time... or in fact in another time...

September 16, 2006Latest news and gossips from the lower caverns to the top of Weyr’s Rim!

There are still echoes of the celebration feast after the Hatching of Julinath’s clutch. As usually the riders take advantage of it to chat, eat, get drunk, make new acquaintances or all of the above. But not everyone likes the crowd in the Dining Cavern, Kirski and Al’gar, two of the new Weyrlings, have a quiet talk outside.

As a lot of fresh meat is needed for the new weyrlings and the Weyr’s resources are running low, J’ley organises a hunting party consisting of F’inis, K’rrick, Livena and Shiara (?). While the dragons feed themselves, the riders don’t waste their time and learn as much as possible about one another, but soon the subject comes to the destruction of their Weyrs of origin.

Weyrwoman’s Kiysia first departure out of the Weyr after the birth of her son was a very lucky one. The resources she found are so big she had to call the Wings for help. During the work F’inis makes closer acquaintance with Samaena… and with rope and herd beasts too.

The Weyrlings are competing trying to make collecting numbweed leaves a bit more exciting task.

Will the riders manage to transport the beasts alive? How well can dragons play the role of shepherd’s animals?

Journeyman Healer Neloru is having a very busy day in the infirmary. As Tukker is still in serious condition, Neloru is now experiencing how hard the other Healer worked. Cuts and burns might be a usual part of Weyr’s life, but a bronzerider  fainting at the sight of blood is not a common case. Recovering from his pass-out F’inis has an opportunity to get to know Jal’yn better. Maybe even better than anyone except Jal’yn’s nearest family….

After the work Livena and Samaena spend their time having a chat. At the moment they are gossiping about the Weyrwoman, but beware! No one is free from rumours and even you can’t escape their eyes… and tongues.

Kilenanth's flight projects strong emotions influencing the whole population of the Weyr. Niory managed to in Kamerion, so the future parents are spending passionate moments together. Shiara comforts F’inis, the bronzerider she wished to have won her Nirasith’s last mating flight. Quite the same do Milanna and T’ren. Is Kilenanth's mating flight going to have more consequences than making L’rek new Weyrleader?

October 16, 2004 With the Weyr now stretched to its limits even Gold riders have had to forgo a few luxuries, but is Myrin’s welcome in response to the crisis or to her holier than thou attitude?

The Weyrs current crush has also forced the need for two riders to a weyr. Following the announcement of "The List" will those now suddenly forced to weyr mate survive life in such close proximity to one another or is more trouble brewing around the bowl.

Since the death of their clutch mates Sevalie and Emaleth, the Weyrlings are persevering with their flight lessons. But the loss is causing even more stress on the Weyr’s well respected and loved Weyrling master. Not to mention the trauma felt by the lost weyrlings brothers. Will S’ase and V’lin lose each other in the mourning process?

And is it love or lust that has blossomed after the graduation of the Weyrs senior weyrlings? But it seems the love bug has hit the Weyr and its not only the new grads who are catching it. *Looks pointedly at Aelessa and J’suan*

As her dragon Moranth frets over her rider, Milanna’s labors with her first child. Will V’tero’s feelings change when the baby comes?

But while these stories unfold even larger concerns burden the Weyr. Will there be enough rider's to take to the sky to protect what's left of Pern? Will there be enough food and other resources to feed the unexpected numbers? Or will Free Falling’s Weyr Leaders need to turn to Southern for assistance?

June 8, 2004 We've had some Pern shattering destruction happening in our little part of Pern. 06/08/1261 Pern date, we lost all the Northern Weyrs except for Free Falling and Ista. We are now in the process of working through the major changes that has caused.

July 10, 2002 Free Falling Weyr celebrated our one Turn anniversary with a Gather. During the Gather our Senor Queen Kilenanth rose in a mating flight, just a few seconds later another gold rose and a fight ensued. Because of injuries given him defending Kilenanth Acting Weyrleader J'lando's bronze Sulleth went between leaving Jahlando a dragonless man. But a Bronzerider from another Weyr showed up for the Gather and his bronze Lariath caught Kilenanth making R'deo Weyrleader of Free Falling Weyr.

August 4, 2001   Kilenanth rises! It was her first maiden flight and was a good one at that! Sulleth came close to catching her, but her quick flight upset the hopeful dragon. Rayenth was getting tired quickly. Titanath was doing quite well, which most thought was going to be the lucky one. Lychath flew his heart out doing his best to catch the queen. A bit after catching a second wind, Rayenth comes through as the victor. Good job Rayenth and congrats to R'tor for becoming Weyr Leader and to Kiysia who is now our Weyr Woman.
