Anything you feel would help describe your persona better:

Habits: R’lyn get’s slightly twitchy around overly excitable people. If they don’t either calm down or just leave he tends to stare at them with a look like he hopes they’ll disappear, which he does.

Hobbies: When he was younger, R’lyn’s favorite things to do usually seemed very boring to others. He would study different flight patterns and the history of the weyrs and enjoyed traveling around to see other places for himself. Upon becoming Weyrleader, he found that his free time was severely cut short and took instead to talking to people more often, finding it funny that people controlled themselves so much more around him due to his rank.

Personality: Overly cynical and dry, R’lyn is not the type of person most people get along with, though he is never truly unpleasant to anyone. While he is not really a very serious person, there are very few who get around to realizing that. Most get angry and walk away without waiting to see his reaction, but his three siblings know that he’s liable to start laughing after frustrating a person enough. He’s best described as cheerfully pessimistic and delights in telling those around him everything that could go wrong in a situation. Rarely is he optimistic about something and it’s usually only when that something concerns Taith.

Background: Born at Southern Weyr, R’lyn was the complete opposite of everything one would expect of a weyrbrat. While other boys his age ran around playing games, he preferred to study history and facts that he could find about both the weyr and Pern itself.  During his free time, instead of exploring outside the weyr, he explored what few archives Southern Weyr had. As he grew up, he became bored with reading and began searching out older riders who knew information that couldn’t be found simply written down. It was due to his early experiences with people such as these that resulted in R’lyn’s strange sense of humor and added to what would grow into a very cynical personality.

His impression to Taith was no a surprise to the family who already had five riders  While the fact that the dragon was bronze made them happy, there was little left to say that hadn’t already been told to his older siblings. This only served to increase R’lyn’s pessimism, despite his happiness at the lack of unwanted attentions. Never one for family ties, he found that there was no reason to spend any more time than he had to and he treated them less and less like family as he got older.

When R’lyn became Weyrleader he found it greatly diminished his free time, but at the same time, it gave him even more of an opportunity to learn about Pern. Instead of simply reading history, he would be making it and that thought kept him going even when he was forced to deal with people he didn’t like. His relationship with the Weyrwoman, Senra, lacked the stress he’d have worried about with another person. Sometimes they were together, but sometimes they weren’t and this on-off relationship suited his personality best.

R’lyn found that being a Weyrleader suited him, even if some parts of it annoyed him greatly. Southern Weyr was lucky enough to not have to deal with the quake that affected the northern weyrs, for which he was very grateful. This left him with more time to build up his own weyr to bring it up to a strength he thought should be expected of any weyr, whether northern or southern. R’lyn greatest fault as a Weyrleader is his habit of angering some of Wingleaders and he often has to ask Taith to bespeak their dragons to make sure they weren’t too offended.

Dragon Information

Name: Taith

Age: 13

Color: an almost dull bronze that can be mistaken for brown in the wrong light

Sire/Dame: Bronze Larrenth/ Gold Mareeth

Personality: Easy-going and playful, Taith enjoys his rider’s teasing of others more than anything. Some dragons take it as their responsibility to reign in their rider, but Taith feels it is his obligation to encourage R’lyn. His favorite things to do are to listen to his rider’s conversations and to converse with the other dragons that aren’t busy. At the same time, he knows how to act when it comes to other dragons and makes sure to maintain a good relationship with them to make up for his rider’s nature.
