Build: Being dancer and runner as well as dragonrider, she has a slim, yet strong build, with subtle musculature. She has the flexibility and strength of a Prima Ballerina or Olympic Gymnast. No double joints, just a lifetime of doing the splits and tumbling and such.

Hair color/style: Her hair is black and wavy, falling down her back, to her waist on a soft mane. She has a fringe over her forehead, which also consists of soft curls.

Eyes: Her eyes are dark brown and round, framed by long black lashes.

Complexion: Swarthy and smooth.

Habits: Exercising obsessively when upset, hurt, happy, angry... most of the time!

Hobbies: Dancing, card tricks, exercising. She likes to exercise, practice twice a day and go for long runs when she's not working, to stay fit. And playing dice games.

Personality: She's fairly quiet and, apart from her dragon, spends a lot of time by herself. Partly because she's constantly practicing her dancing going for long runs and partly because she's shy and has moved around too much to learn how to make friends.

She moves with the grace of a dancer, poised and seeming to glide across the ground. She usually has a (false) air of serenity about her, adding to the smell of flowers from the scent she always wears.

Background: Born in Bitra Hold, of classic Bitran stock, Samaena's parents ran a wagon train, of a sort.
Instead of trading, they traveled the North, entertaining folk with illusions, card tricks, dancing, tumbling and the like.

From early on Samaena skipped reading classes to watch the dancers and most often got discovered by her grandmother. Being the Matriarch of the wagons, it only took a firm glare to send Samaena scurrying back to class.

By age 3 or 4, she was on 'stage' dancing with the rest of them, all 2 or 3 other dancers. Even then, she had a love and an aptitude for dance and sense of balance and fearlessness that allowed her to quickly learn backflips and cartwheels, as well as dance steps. In spite of herself, she learned to read, write, cook, sew and embroider.

By the time she was ten, she was dancing and tumbling in front of audiences, often in provocative clothes and poses of a girl much older. Since the crowds thew marks, her parents and grandmother didn't care if she appeared to be a bit more than she was. It was all entertainment after all and they didn't think it was harming her. Samaena never vocalized her feelings, but dressing provocatively made her feel embarrassed and ashamed. She'd respond by taking off after the show for a long run, with the excuse that she needed
to keep fit.

Of course, the occasional man would get certain ideas from Samaena's stage outfits, but the rest of the wagon would protect her until they moved on.

At age 18, Samaena's travels took them right up the access tunnel, into Free Falling Weyr and that's where she remained, to become a candidate for the clutch hardening on the sands.
