Significant others: None Children: None Height: 5'5" Build: Slim, tall for his age. Sticen is at that awkward stage where he is all knees and elbows. But, unlike most, he has a natural grace about him. He has the beginning of a lithe, well muscled, sleek body. Something his oblivious of. Hair color/style: White blond and wavy. He keeps it trimmed short and close to his scalp. Eyes: Dark brown, almost black. His eyes are large and round and dominate his face. Complexion: Medium complexion. He tans well, if he spends anytime outside. Anything you feel would help describe your persona better: Sticen has a feminine quality about him that does not bother his mother, but unnerves him. He knows he is attracted to other men, but keeps that tightly concealed. Not even his mother knows. Habits: Rubbing his hands along his thighs when he's thinking. Hobbies: Sticen likes to play a small set of pipes he has. He's never had the desire to be a harper, but likes to listen to music and song and can play a song on his pipes after one listening. Personality: Sticen is friendly, but quiet. He doesn't chatter and keeps to himself except when in the company of friends, which he has many. All the kitchen staff at the hold know him. He has a loyal streak in him and a kind heart. He will do anything his mother asks of him and is protective of her, though she is well able to take care of herself. Sticen has never learned to read or write which is a constant embarrassment for him. Sticen has a lot of energy and is in constant movement, being it baking, chores or helping his mother or friends. As long as he has something to do. He gets bored easily and looks for anything to occupy his time. He has a eidetic memory and a sharp eye for details.
Background: Sticen was born at Nerat Hold to a Journeywoman
baker. He was the delight of all the kitchen staff and learned
his way around the kitchen at an early age. He followed his
mother around as soon as he could reach a table top and then
officially apprenticed to her at 12 turns. Of course, by then,
he was quite independent and had developed a few specialties of
his own that were well liked among the residents of the Hold.
It was at 10 turns that Sticen figured out he liked boys better
than girls, though he has never had any kind of intimate
encounter. He does have lots of friends that are girls and they
just consider him "one of the girls" when they spend time
together. Of male friends, he only has one, Oshan. Oshan is two
turns younger than Sticen and is the son of the currently posted
Harper. It was also the age when Sticen first asked his mother
about who his father was. He never did get a straight answer,
his mother tending to avoid the subject. After much wheedling,
he finally deduced that she wasn't sure and that it could be
either the Hold Steward or one of his mother's constituents.
Brenar, he knew, was a favorite bedmate to his mother and both
his sisters were the other journeyman's children.
Sticen was 12 turns when he had his first glimpse of a dragon. A
blue search dragon had come to the hold, but Sticen was in the
kitchen, as usual, and was only able to see the magnificent
creature as it was launching into the air on it's way back to
the Weyr. Sticen knew his ballads and revered dragons above all
other creatures. As he'd never seen a dragon before, the blue
dominated his thoughts for several sevendays after that. Of
course, Sticen, like most boys, had a secret desire to be a
dragonrider, but was realistic enough to know he would never be
acceptable to the large beasts.
Sticen is now 13 turns and deeply ensconced into his life as an
apprentice under his mother. He works hard, but yearns for more.
